Collections Policy
The mission of the Collections
Committee is
1) To insure the preservation of the Brennans collection through
curatorial and conservation practices that include developing policies and procedures
for inventory, accessions, de-accessions, loans and collections access and maintenance
2) Develop its educational
potential (with the Education Committee) on an interpretive plan and long
range educational goals through ongoing research of the Brennan House and its
contents, family, and other related subjects to understand and accurately interpret
the house, its contents and its/their role in Louisvilles history
3) In conjunction with
the Buildings and Grounds and Education Committees, to promote an appropriate
venue for its display, use, and interpretation by developing policies and procedures
for the use of the house that will reduce any negative impact on the collection
4) Determine policies
and priorities for collection repair and conservation
